Ebad to publish his memoirs ‘to say what he couldn’t say’ as governor

Outgoing Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has announced he would put together his memoirs and publish a book.

Talking to journalists on Thursday at Governor House where he was supposedly spending his last day, Khan said he would document his memoirs related to incidents that occurred as he discharged his duties as governor over the past 14 years.

He said his memoirs would be published under the title “Woh jo main keh na saka” (the things that I couldn’t’ say).

Khan said that for the time being he had decided to take some rest after leaving the Governor House. He said he had not yet made up his mind whether or not to do enter into politics in later part of his life. He said he would duly inform the media if he decided to rejoin politics.  He rejected the impression as false that he had been removed over some charges. “The charges linked to me are not correct.”

Khan said the federation had used its prerogative to remove him from the office of governor and he had accepted that decision. During the 14 years he spent in the Governor House, the longest by any governor in the country, he said he strived to resolve all public issues without any discrimination.

When he was asked whether a probe would be conducted into the charges levelled against him, he said: “Don’t worry about me as everything is fine.”

He hoped that the incoming governor Justice (retd) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui, would also serve the people of Sindh in the best way.

He met President Mamnoon Hussain at the State Gust House for a farewell meeting. The two shared views on matters of mutual interest.

The president praised his services for the country.

Earlier, the outgoing governor met all staff members of the Governor House at a farewell session and praised their services, saying that due to their relentless working, he had been able to discharge his duties in the best of the manner.

Meetings with CM

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah called on governor-designate Justice (retd) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui at his residence and congratulated him on this appointment.

He presented a bouquet of flowers to Justice Siddiqui and lauded his services as chief justice of Pakistan. He also praised his inner strength to refuse to take an oath under Provisional Constitutional Order proclaimed by Pervez Musharraf.

Shah hoped that Justice Siddiqui would serve the people of Sindh with the same spirit as he had served the people of Pakistan as chief justice of Pakistan.

The governor-designate thanked the chief minister and appreciated his efforts to establish good governance and develop institutions.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shah paid a farewell visit to the outgoing governor at the Governor House.

He lauded Khan’s services as governor and his ability to take everyone—politicians, religious leaders, scholars and businessmen—together while discharging his constitutional duties. Khan thanked the chief minister for his courtesy call.

Oath-taking today

Justice (retd) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui is expected to take the oath of office as new governor of Sindh this morning.

Earlier, it was stated that oath-taking ceremony was going to take place on Thursday night, but it was postponed due to unexplained reasons.

Some TV news channels reported that the outgoing governor would depart for Dubai and would not take part in the oath-taking ceremony.
