Encroachments removed across city to ensure smooth traffic slow

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi has launched a campaign to remove encroachments causing traffic obstructions on busy streets and sidewalks.

The deputy commissioners of the city have presented reports on the respective action against encroachments in their district to the commissioner. The commissioner has instructed all the deputy commissioners to maintain a strong liaison with relevant authorities and provide them assistance.

The relevant departments and deputy commissioners have identified the roads in their jurisdiction where encroachments have been causing traffic flow disruptions and posing challenges to pedestrians.

These encroachments are being gradually removed according to their nature and requirements. Naqvi has instructed the deputy commissioners to keep him updated on the progress of the campaigns.

According to a press statement issued by the Commissioner's Office, encroachments were removed in various areas of District Korangi such as Shah Faisal Colony No 3, Sham Shopping Centre and Kalma Chowk on Azeem Pura Road.

The operations were carried out in collaboration with the police, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and town administration. In District South, anti-encroachment teams coordinated with the KMC to clear encroachments on Imambada Ram Patam Das Road in Lyari and Shoe Market Garden.

Meanwhile, Keamari Deputy Commissioner Junaid Iqbal reported to the commissioner that an operation in Deh Moch Block 1 LDA Scheme 42 cleared encroachments on 30 acres of public land. The operation was supervised by the the assistant commissioner and involved the district administration and anti-encroachment force. The cleared land, which is owned by the Lyari Development Authority, was handed back to the authority.

Central Deputy Commissioner Fawad Ghaffar informed the commissioner that a campaign against encroachments causing traffic disruptions began on Thursday in collaboration with the KMC. The campaign would last for a week, and all assistant commissioners and police officials have been put on alert to ensure its success.
