Rawalpindi

With the arrival of people from adjoining areas like Murree due to changing weather conditions rents of residential units are expected to rise especially in the newly built localities in the city.

“Every year a large number of people from Murree, Swat and other areas turn towards Rawalpindi to avoid extreme cold weather due to which availability of residential units on rent is now very limited in most of the areas,” said Shabbir Hussain, a property dealer in Pindora area.

He said as far as rental accommodation is concerned the federal capital has always been an expensive city so outsiders prefer to seek rental housing in Rawalpindi, a relatively affordable city.  Most of these people who are arriving in Rawalpindi want to get residential units on rent in the areas including Sadiqabad, Muslim Town, New Parian, Dhoke Najju, Pirwadhai, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Westridge, Asghar Mall Scheme, Fauji Colony and Ganjmandi.

Nasir Abbasi, another property dealer in the area, said there is no rental control law and these days a house built on 5-marla covered area is being rented out at Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 18,000.
