Pak players move ahead in Asian Junior Individual Championships
KARACHI: Four junior squash players from Pakistan moved into the second round of their respective categories in 23rd Asian Junior Individual Championships at Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Mohammad Haris Qasim defeated Nandun Sanjanta of Sri Lanka 11-3, 11-3, 11-2 and Uzair Shaukat beat Rashid A Al-Harib of Qatar 11-8, 11-9, 11-2 in the first round of under-15 category.
Haris is to face Prithvi Singh of India and Danial Nurhaqiem of Malaysia in the second round.
In the first round of under-17 category, 10th seed Naveed Rehman defeated Heshan Deemantha of SL 11-9, 11-6, 11-8; Abbas Zed beat Adam Agan of Malaysia 15-13, 11-9, 11-9; and Haris Iqbal defeated 12th seed Abedlkader Jeitan from Jordan 11-6, 11-3, 12-14, 11-9.
Mohammad Daroshan Khan lost to third seed Mohammad Hafiz from Malaysia 11-13, 11-9, 5-11, 5-11. In the second round Haris will face second seed Siow Yee Xian of Malaysia and Abbas is up against ninth seed Saksham Chouhdry from India. Naveed will play against fifth seed Mohammad Reza from Iran.
Assadullah got bye in the first round of under-13 category. No Pakistani player is participating in the under-19 category.
