Made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exhibition tomorrow

60 stalls set up to showcase local, traditional products

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold one-day exhibition ‘Made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’ tomorrow (Wednesday) in Islamabad to showcase the products of the province and promote its soft image around the world.

This was announced by the president of the chamber, Zulfiqar Ali Khan, at the Chamber’s House on Monday. He said that the objective of the exhibition was to promote locally manufactured products, build soft image of the province and give a message to the world that things have changed in the province.

“The event will send out a message to the investors that it is high time to come and invest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” KPCCI president said. He was flanked by the chamber senior vice president, Hammad Rasheed, former president Zahidullah Shinwari and Muhammad Afzal.

Zulfiqar Ali said that Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana would inaugurate the exhibition, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra will attend the closing ceremony of the exhibition as chief guest.

He added that 60 stalls comprising of locally manufactured traditional and cultural products, including food items, will be set up at the daylong exhibition. “It’s our prime obligation to play due role to promote the traditional and cultural manufacturing products and build soft image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the rest of the world by organising such events,” KPCCI chief said.

About the inviting the Punjab governor as chief guest at inaugural session, he maintained that it was aimed at creating interprovincial harmony.When asked as to why Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was not taken on board for organising such an important event in Islamabad, he said the motive of this exhibition was totally different from whatever the provincial government was doing for attracting investment in the province.

“Our prime objective is to promote a soft image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by inviting diplomats of various foreign missions during the event in Islamabad,” the chamber president said. He expressed the hope that the exhibition would play a significant role in image-building as well as promotion of locally produced traditional products of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Zulfiqar Ali said they have invited almost all diplomats of foreign missions to the event. He said that eight ambassadors had confirmed to visit the exhibition. He said inviting foreign diplomats to the exhibition was aimed at apprising them about the ground realities and changed situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
