NAB arrests forest officer in illegal assets case

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested the district forest officer, Haripur, on the charges of accumulating illegal assets worth Rs28.87 million.

A communiqué said that an inquiry was authorised to ascertain facts and collect evidence about the moveable and immoveable properties owned by the accused, Tauheedul Haq.

During the course of inquiry, it was revealed that the accused Tauheedul Haq, a District Forest Officer (BPS-18), Forest Department (KP) remained posted on different posts in the department. It said that during his tenure in Forest Department, the accused accumulated assets worth millions of rupees in his name and in the name of his dependents.

His properties included 12 kanal land in Charsadda, 19 plots of land in Abbottabad, 200 square feet plot of land at the Civilian Employees Cooperative Housing Society in Islamabad, Mini Shop at the Fruit and Vegetable Market, on the Inqilab Road in Peshawar, five marla plot of land in Budhni village in Peshawar, two plots of land at IB Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Islamabad, two plots of land of five marla each in Safari Valley Rafi Block, Bahria Town, Rawalpindi and other properties.
