Gandapur dares anyone to overthrow his government
ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has dared anyone to try and overthrow his government. He emphasized that his government, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was formed based on its own strength, not relying on anyone else’s support.
Talking to the media at the District Courts here on Tuesday, the KP chief minister said that he will lead a protest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 5 and people from every district and constituency will participate. “People are not afraid of arrests and court appearances,” he said.
He said PTI supremo Imran Khan is fighting for restoration of rule of law and Constitution in Pakistan. Referring to the trials, he said that these false and fabricated cases have been going on for a long time. “We will always present ourselves before the law and are not afraid of them.”
In a chat with the media outside the Supreme Court, the General Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Salman Akram Raja, said that the call for August 5 protest has been made by the party’s founder.
The PTI secretary general explained that the August 5 protest will be held everywhere across Pakistan. “It is the right of citizens to peacefully protest under articles 15, 17, and 19,” he argued. Salman Akram said the protest will be held against the rigged elections, the manner in which the PTI leadership was disqualified and imprisoned on trumped up charges. He said on the one hand, those who addressed the press conferences were cleared of all the ‘supposed’ wrongdoings, while those who refused to do the bidding continue to be persecuted. The PTI, its party workers, leaders and the nation will protest against the state of affairs.
Earlier, the court of Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti cancelled the arrest warrant of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur and withdrew the show cause notice after he surrendered in the alleged liquor and illegal arms recovery case of Bhara Kahu police station.
Ali Amin Gandapur told the court he could not appear on the previous date because of Senate elections during which he had to cast vote. Later, the court allowed CM Gandapur to leave and adjourned the case until Thursday, July 31.
