Kundi for collective efforts to maintain peace in Muharram

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday called for collective efforts to maintain peace during Muharram and stressed the importance of inter-sectarian harmony and unity.

He said this in a meeting with a delegation of the Imamia Jirga Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held at the Governor’s House, said an official statement. The delegation was led by Imamia Jirga president Farzand Ali Bangash and included general secretary Sardar Aqeel Hussain, coordination secretary Sardar Ibrahim Hussain and other prominent figures of the Shia community.

During the meeting, the delegation discussed preparations for Muharram and raised concerns about the law and order, particularly in sensitive districts such as Parachinar and Dera Ismail Khan.

The governor listened to the delegation’s concerns and assured them of his full cooperation in addressing the issues.He emphasized that the province continued to face terrorism backed by hostile elements, particularly from India. He said that several districts, especially the merged district of Kurram and Dera Ismail Khan, were highly sensitive during the month of Muharram.

“All schools of thought must show mutual cooperation and coordination to ensure peace during this sacred month,” he said, adding that the administration was committed to ensuring security and well-managed arrangements throughout the province.

The delegation expressed gratitude for the Governor’s attention and support towards their concerns and assured their cooperation in promoting peace and unity.Meanwhile, Director General of NADRA, Khalid Inayatullah Khan, met the governor.
