Rawalpindi:The Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has finalized a comprehensive plan to ensure uninterrupted water supply and efficient sewerage services throughout the Eidul Azha holidays. Managing Director (MD) Wasa, Muhammad Saleem Ashraf, made the announcement while presiding over a meeting to review Eid preparations. The meeting was attended by Director Administration Muhammad Umar Farooq, Director Water Supply Azizullah Khan, Director Sewerage Saadoon Basra, and other senior officials.
MD Wasa stated that a steady supply of clean drinking water will be guaranteed during the festive period. In case of any damage to tube wells, restoration will be carried out within 24 hours. To facilitate this, additional motors and pumps have been arranged in advance. He further mentioned that sewerage teams have been directed to inspect major mosques and Eidgahs on Eid day to ensure that sewer lines are clean, no manholes are uncovered, and there is no overflow from drains. Field staff have been assigned specific duties to maintain a smooth and hygienic environment for the public.
To streamline operations during the four-day Eid holidays, a team of senior Wasa officers has been designated as focal persons to monitor complaints and ensure quick response in case of emergencies. Director Saadoon Basra will serve as the overall focal person for Wasa Rawalpindi and will oversee all operations throughout the holiday period.
On June 6 and 7, Deputy Director Hasnain Mabaset, Assistant Director Khaliq Afzal, and Syed Tahir Raza will serve as focal persons. On June 8 and 9, the responsibilities will be handled by Director Saadoon Basra, Assistant Director Saqib Elahi, and again Syed Tahir Raza. This rotation ensures 24/7 oversight across the holiday period.
For sewerage-related concerns, Director Sewerage Saadoon Basra will be the main point of contact, supported by Assistant Directors Ahmed Hassan and Chenzeb Khan. Sub-engineers Haseeb and Adil Afzal will also assist in handling field-level operations during the holidays.
Similarly, specific personnel have been assigned to manage water supply systems across different regions. Sub-Engineer Naushad Aslam will oversee the Khanpur and Rawal Dam Water Supply Systems, while Sub-Engineer Muhammad Tufail will handle operations in Dhamman Syedan. Sub-Engineer Saad Faiz is responsible for the Commercial Market area, Muhammad Umair for Shamsabad, Muhammad Ali for Mohammadi Chowk in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, and Zohaib Aftab for the Liaquat Bagh area. Additionally, Abdul Rehman will manage Commercial Market operations, Muhammad Ishtiaq will be in charge of Chak Jalal Din, and Adeel Azhar will supervise water supply in Gulzar-e-Quaid, Noor Colony, and Kotha Kalan.
MD Wasa also appealed to citizens not to throw sacrificial waste into the drains, urging them to use designated bins provided by the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) to ensure smooth disposal and prevent blockages.
He has also issued special instructions to the Director of Supply and Director of Sewerage to make surprise field visits during the holidays, inspect tube well operator attendance, and take strict action in case of any negligence. Citizens are encouraged to report any issues by visiting the nearest Wasa complaint centre or calling the toll-free helpline at 1334.
