Official says drugs recovered in Kohat region

KOHAT: A senior police officer here on Sunday claimed that a large quantity of drugs were recovered in the Kohat region in the last month.

Talking to media, Regional Police Officer Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat said that in Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Orakzai and Kurram districts an anti-narcotics campaign launched by Kohat Region Police in May 2025 led to substantial recoveries of drugs.

According to official figures, a total of 550-kilogram hashish, 50-kilogram heroin, 20-kilogram opium, 44-kilogram ice (methamphetamine), and 100 bottles of liquor were seized during the crackdown.

The operations, conducted across multiple districts within the Kohat Region, were intelligence-driven and aimed at curbing the rising trend of drug trafficking.Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kohat Region, Abbas Majeed Marwat, while commenting on the campaign, said: “The war against narcotics will continue at all levels without compromise.

These recoveries are the result of sustained efforts and reflect our unwavering commitment to eliminate the drug menace from society.”He emphasized that such targeted operations would continue in the coming months with enhanced coordination, public awareness efforts, and zero tolerance for those involved in the drug trade.
