Woman, 2 kids killed in Swat roof collapse incident
MINGORA: A woman and her two children were killed when the roof of a house collapsed in the mountainous area of Sherkhana in Khwazakhela tehsil of Swat district early Tuesday.
Police officials said that the roof of the house of Muhammad Anwar caved in at around 3:00am due to heavy rainfall, burying three family members under the debris. The local residents launched rescue work soon after the incident and shifted the victims, including the wife and two children of Muhammad Akram, to hospital. However, the woman and her two children succumbed to their injuries. Local residents said that the roof was already in a dilapidated condition, and the heavy rainfall worsened its structural integrity, leading to the collapse. They urged the government to extend financial assistance to the family.
