Harvard scientist explains why officials hid UFO files for years

A new batch of the UFO files is out after years of being hidden in the government's vault.

Now, a Harvard physicist made a bombshell claim on why the files may have been kept away from the public.

His name is Avi Loeb.

And he explains the reasons for not unveiling it in public sooner are tied to secrecy and security fears.

But there is another one, Loeb suggests, and that is holes in the U.S. defense system, which are exposed by unexplained aerial objects.

"I think so. I think it was resistant to releasing them because it shows the vulnerability of the defense system in the U.S.," the expert told Al Arabiya.

In addition, some data was gleaned by classified technology, the scientist says, which the officials do not want to share in public.

"Also, some of the data was collected by classified censors, and you don't want to expose the abilities of those censors to adversarial nations."

Besides these reasons, Loeb said not releasing the secret files has to do with a simple reason: incompetence.

"But on top of that, there is, of course, the psychological tendency of bureaucrats and administrators within government to hide the fact that they're not doing their job."

"And they can do that by classifying documents and data," he noted.

Meanwhile, the latest release of UFO files has sparked renewed interest in the unexplained aerial objects.
