KARACHI: Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) overwhelmed Karachi Gymkhana (Blues) by seven wickets in their Group D encounter of the 31st Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Festival Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2016, being played for the Omar Associates Trophy, here at the Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground on Saturday.
Electing to bat, after winning the toss, Karachi Gymkhana Blues were all out for 108 in 19.2 overs despite opener Kamran Akmal’s 47 off 37 balls. The last eight wickets tumbled for 42 runs with left-arm spinner Sadaqat Ali (2-16) and medium-pacer Nabeel Khalid (2-23) doing the damage.
Chasing a target of 109, DIB lost a wicket on the very first ball of their innings but opener Ahsan Ali, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 55 balls, steered them to a comfortable victory with three overs to spare. Nabeel shone with the bat, too, chipping in with breezy 25 off 16 balls to earn Man-of-the-Match award.
