Historic steps being taken in health sector, says Salman

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that historic steps are being taken in the health sector under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He said this while presiding over the 89th meeting of the Board of Directors of Punjab Health Insurance Management Company (PHIMC) here on Monday. The provincial minister said that Chief Minister’s Dialysis Programme, Special Initiative for Transplant Programme and the Children’s Heart Surgery Programme are the flagship programmes of the Punjab government.

Khawaja Salman said Punjab Health Initiative Management Company has been made the executing agency to ensure the implementation of these three programmes. He said that the Chief Minister’s Children’s Heart Surgery Programme is being successfully implemented.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood, CEO PHIMC Dr Ali Razaq, CEO Punjab Healthcare Commission Dr Saqib Aziz, Director General Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority Prof Shahzad Anwar, Dr Zahid Pervez, Director PITB Nosheen Fayyaz, Dr Shujaat Ali, and Advocate Supreme Court Sultan Mahmood participated through video link. Four agendas of PHIMC were presented during the meeting. Formal approval was also given to implementation of CM’s special initiative for transplant and CM’s dialysis programme.

Improvement in HMIS directed

Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood presided over an important meeting regarding Hospital Management Information System (HIMS) at Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Monday.

During the meeting, Secretary Health Punjab reviewed the management and other issues in the HIMS system. The officers concerned of PITB briefed the meeting in this regard. Addressing the meeting, provincial health secretary said that the main objective of the Hospital Management Information System is to create convenience for patients visiting government hospitals. Under this system, data from the admission of each patient to registration, consultation and availability of medicines in all government hospitals of Punjab is being monitored.

He directed PITB to bring further improvements in the Hospital Management Information System and increase the staff at the counters in government hospitals. The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Development Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Additional Secretary Development Dr Waheed Asghar, Director IT Abdul Wahab, Deputy Director Abdul Mateen, Director PITB Nosheen Fayyaz and others.
