Three power lifter sisters return after winning 15 gold medals
LAHORE:Three powerlifter sisters returned home on Monday night after winning 15 gold medals in the Asian Pacific African Combined Powerlifting Championship in South Africa.
The officials of Sports Board Punjab gave a warm welcome to the medal-winning sistersTwinkle Sohail, Sybil Sohail and Veronica Sohail at theAllama Iqbal Airport. Director Admin Sports Board Punjab Dr M Kaleem and Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed presented flowers to the national powerlifting stars. A large number of sports personalities were also present at the airport to say welcome to national powerlifting athletes.
Talking on this occasion, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem said thatthe whole nation is proud of three sisters.“There is no doubt that the three sisters have earned great respect for the country and definitely it will be an immense inspiration for the young athletes”. He said that the three sisters have created history by winning 15 gold medalsagainst tough opponents in South Africa. “The whole nation is proud of the female players”. Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed on this occasion said that Sports Board Punjab will continue to take effective measures for the development of sports across the province. Sybil Sohail bagged the medal in the 52kg Open category of Deadlift in South Africa.
