PESHAWAR: Several towns in Peshawar and other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing power breakdowns for over 12 hours despite the scorching heat.

On the other hand, workers and supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) kept switching on power feeders in respective grid stations on their own to have an uninterrupted electricity supply. There are areas in different districts where power is supplied hardly for a few hours. The same is the situation of Sui gas which is being provided only for cooking in the morning, noon and evening at specified times.

Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) authorities last week claimed several feeders developed faults due to switching on of all the power feeders from the Rahman Baba grid station that overloaded the system.

After the chief minister’s orders, workers of the PTI along with their elected members kept switching on feeders at a number of places to ensure there was no loadshedding for more than 12 hours in any area.Unprecedented power breakdowns triggered protests across the province in the last few days.
