PESHAWAR: The Frontier Foundation Welfare Hospital and Blood Transfusion Centre on Friday marked the World Blood Donor Day.
A press release said a ceremony and walk were arranged to raise awareness among the people to donate blood. The day is observed on June 14.
Speaking at the gathering, Frontier Foundation Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem and Administrator Dr Fakhar Zaman said the day was marked every year to motivate people to donate blood and also to thank those who donated blood regularly to save lives.
They said the role of the blood donors was very important in saving the lives of children suffering from multiple blood disorders including thalassemia and hemophilia.The participants of the function later arranged a walk. A camp was set up where several people turned up to donate blood.
