Seven cops booked for prisoner’s escape

CHARSADDA: Following the escape of a dangerous prisoner from a Charsadda police jail van, the district police officer (DPO) has ordered the arrest of six police officers, including an ASI, and a case has been registered against them.

Meanwhile, police force from two districts were searching for the escaped convict. The incident occurred when prisoners were being transported from Mardan Jail to the Judicial Complex in Charsadda for court hearings.

During the return, as the jail van entered the jurisdiction of Sheikh Maltoon Police Station, the prisoner, Wali Muhammad, who was accused of murder, attempted murder, and firing at police, managed to escape.

Following the escape, a significant police force arrived at the scene, and special teams from both districts were formed to recapture the fugitive.Charsadda DPO Masood Ahmed ordered the immediate registration of a case against the police officials present in the jail van for dereliction of duty. Consequently, the Sheikh Maltoon Police Station in Mardan filed a case against ASI Subhan Allah, Head Constables Daud Khan and Inam Khan, and Constables Amir, Azam, Niaz Muhammad, and Inayatur Rehman, as well as the escaped prisoner Wali Muhammad, under sections 223, 224, and 118. All the implicated police officers were promptly arrested and placed in custody.
