Rs10m looted in Mansehra bank heist

MANSEHRA: The armed robbers looted a bank at Chinar Road in the heart of the city here on Thursday.“Two armed men entered the bank, unarmed its two guards at gunpoint and decamped with the entire amount at the cash counters,” District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters.

The bearded and unmasked men reached the Allied Bank branch on Chinar Road on a bike, locked the entire staff inside a room and decamped with over Rs10 million.The heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene following the incident and started an investigation.

“Bank’s security system, according to preliminary investigation, was out of order and manager and other staff couldn’t inform police during the heist,” Gandapur said.He added that the closed-circuit cameras’ clips, and forensic evidence were collected by the investigating officers.

“the robbers would be arrested soon,” Gandapur said, adding, the police had sealed all entrance and exit points leading to the city following the heist.“We have also started questioning the manager and other staff regarding the heist and expecting some important clues, which could lead us to arrest the robbers,” Gandapur said.
