Draw held to give subsidised machinery to farmers

MULTAN: In a groundbreaking move to combat smog and reduce pollution, the Punjab government has initiated the distribution of agricultural machinery to farmers at a 60 percent subsidy on Friday.

The main event in this regard organised at Lodhran, where Multan Commissioner Marryam Khan inaugurated the divisional balloting through a draw and announced that 599 Pak Seeders and 200 Shredders will be given to farmers across the division.

The commissioner emphasised that burning crop residues depletes soil fertility and increases air pollution and the Punjab government has launched a mega programme to mitigate smog and improve air quality.
