The SSGC’s franchise-wise operation against the menace of gas theft continues to gain momentum. Illegal connections were severed in fresh raids conducted by the theft control team of the company’s Customer Relations Department in various localities in Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana.
In Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area of Qalandarabad, the theft control team disconnected a whopping 3,000 illegal domestic connections. Similar raids were carried out in the various blocks of Liaquatabad, Buffer Zone, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Korangi and Gizri, where cumulatively 777 illegal connections were dismantled.
In all these areas, the residents had extended illegally supplied gas through fake service connections and gas lines. Theft claims are being raised as per SoP.
In Qasimabad, Hyderabad, the company’s theft control team raided Aazia Apartments where 42 flats were found using gas directly by puncturing a 2’ dia. gas pipeline. The underground clamp used in theft was removed during the operation. And in Larkana Region, during an operation, five illegal underground and overhead connections in the residential areas were dismantled.
Clamps and rubber pipes were removed and theft claims are being raised. The SSGC remains focused on controlling gas theft, one of the main causes behind Unaccounted-for-Gas or line losses, said a press release on Wednesday.
