Waqar Mehdi, the general secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh chapter, has offered heartfelt homage to the party’s founding chairman and the country’s first elected premier, Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, on the occasion of his 45th martyrdom anniversary to be commemorated tomorrow worldwide.

In his message, Waqar Mehdi highlighted how Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s visionary policies reshaped Pakistan’s socio-political fabric, empowering the marginalized and fostering national pride and unity. He said Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s significant contributions, including the formulation of Pakistan’s first unanimous constitution, the initiation of the nuclear programme, and leadership in crucial projects enhancing defense and economic strength. “Bhutto’s visionary initiatives, such as ‘One-man, One-vote,’ universal passport issuance, and the expansion of opportunities for Pakistanis abroad, laid the foundation for a dynamic and resilient nation,” he pointed out.

Mehdi also paid homage to President Asif Zardari, recognizing the significance of his presidential reference submitted to the Supreme Court. “This milestone development acknowledges the systemic failure in ensuring a fair trial for Quaid-e-Awam.” Mehdi reaffirmed the party’s steadfast commitment under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, emphasizing their unwavering pursuit of the Bhuttoist principles. “With determination and perseverance, the PPP and its leadership aim to fulfill the mission of ensuring ‘Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan’ for every Pakistani. This unwavering commitment to establishing a robust democratic system rooted in justice and fairness will endure.”
