PESHAWAR: A local court on Monday acquitted an alleged drug smuggler for lack of evidence supporting the crime.District and Sessions Judge, Khyber, Haq Nawaz, after hearing arguments from both parties acquitted the nominated accused Musa Khan in a case of narcotics smuggling for lack of evidence.
Barristers Muhammad Hassan Adil Chamkani and Zaland Ali Shah pleaded the case of the accused.According to the prosecution, the accused had attempted to smuggle 187 kilograms of hashish through his truck bearing registration No. C-8831. It said that the customs authorities at the Torkham border point had searched the vehicle and recovered 187kg hashish from the secret cavities.
However, the lawyers for the accused told the court that their client had been implicated in the case.They said that their client was just the driver of the truck and he had nothing to do with the seized substance.
