Training in investigative journalism begins

PESHAWAR: A five-day electronic media workshop focusing on “Post-Election Scenario: Governance and Accountability” started here on Monday. The workshop, which will end on March 1, was inaugurated by Dr. Muhammad Saleem Hawed, vice-chancellor of Peshawar University, as a special guest.

Dr Muhammad Saleem Hawed delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the importance of journalistic principles in maintaining the integrity of media.He said investigative journalism was fundamental to upholding truth and transparency in reporting.

He hoped the workshop would delve into the dynamics of governance and accountability in the aftermath of elections. Dr. Hawed urged participants, particularly aspiring journalists, to adhere rigorously to ethical standards in their pursuit of factual reporting.

During the event, Dr. Hawed commended the Women Media Center (WMC) for its efforts in providing a platform for woman students from various educational institutions. The collaborative initiative between WMC and the organizers has facilitated an enriching learning experience for participants.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from woman students representing different universities in the city. The programme includes interactive sessions and practical exercises designed to enhance participants’ understanding of electronic media practices.
