Independent candidate survives attack
The police registered the case against the unidentified attacker.
SWABI: Irfan Jadoon, an independent candidate for PK-49, survived an attack on his life here on Tuesday, police officials said.
Police officials said that Jadoon was on his way to his residence in Gandaf village after attending a funeral prayer when an unidentified person opened fire on him with a pistol in the jurisdiction of Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate Police Station.
“Irfan Jadoon escaped unhurt in the attack and the attackers managed to escape,” said a police official, adding they were investigating the incident. The police cordoned off the area after the incident and started a search operation. The police registered the case against the unidentified attacker.
Considered to be among the key leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Irfan Jadoon decided to contest the election as an independent candidate after the party denied ticket to him.Enjoying the support of Khangi Jirga, Jadoon still considers himself a member of PTI.
