Punjab Food Authority inspected snack food manufacturing unit in Sundar Industrial Estate and imposed Rs500,000 fine
LAHORE : Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Saturday inspected a snack food manufacturing unit in Sundar Industrial Estate and imposed Rs500,000 fine on the owner over using expired and harmful ingredients.
The action was taken under the supervision of PFA Director General M Asim Javaid, who stated in a statement that the PFA team recovered a huge quantity of expired ingredients, including 2,660 kg expired chicken powder, 1,200 kg baking powder, 650kg chicken flavour and 20 kg hazardous chemicals.
He said the expired food products were being used in the preparation of snacks.
The PFA DG maintained food adulterators and counterfeiters do not deserve any exemption however, they are bane for society.
He advised the masses to report on PFA helpline 1223 against the enemies of public health or in case of any food-related complaint.
