Madadgar-15 took timely action on 245,106 calls in 2023

The Karachi police have issued their Madadgar-15 report for 2023, which shows that in continuation of the past practice, the force played a significant role with other law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.

According to the report, in the year 2023 from 1st January to 13th December, 3,797,203 calls were received at the Madadgar-15 call centre.

The force acting timely and effectively on the actionable 245,106 calls arrested 471 suspects, including street criminals, dacoits, abductors and thieves. The suspects were handed over to the police stations for further legal action. As many as 134 pistols, 130 motorcycles, 17 cars, one imitation pistol, 75 mobile phones, one rickshaw and other valuables were seized from them.

Moreover, Madadgar-15 also responded to the numerous emergency calls received at the call centre and helped the stranded citizens, while 1,190,484 calls out of the total received calls came out to be pranked, bogus and missed calls.

Officials said that on the directives issued by the Sindh Police heads regarding effective and timely action against elements who fired in the air on the arrival of New Year, the police in different districts of Sindh registered a total of 85 cases and arrested 91 suspects as a result of timely action and raid operations, and seized 57 pistols, seven rifles, four repeaters, two MP5, a shotgun, an SMG, 489 rounds, 12 empty rounds and fire crackers.

Four cases with four arrests were lodged in Hyderabad, three cases with three arrests were registered in Shaheed Benazirabad, two cases with two arrests were registered in Mirpurkhas and three cases and five arrests were registered in Larkana respectively.

According to the report, a total of 16 people detained by police on New Year’s night are in addition to the arrests.

They added that due to the overall security and traffic measures and excellent strategy made by the Sindh Police on New Year’s Eve, the police had complete control over the law and order situation, traffic on the roads and highways continued to flow and traffic pressure was significantly reduced.

Meanwhile, Karachi police chief Khadim Hussain Rind reported fewer aerial firing incidents than those reported last years. FIRs under sections pertaining to attempt to murder and illegal weapon carrying were lodged against more than 80 accused.

Rind remained on the road with the Range DIGs and district SSPs. An additional police force and traffic police were deployed to counter any untoward situation in the city.

The overall situation of city remained peaceful, and where incidents of aerial firing were reported, police responded timely and arrested suspects.
