Up to 120 people booked for attacking police
KOHAT: A case was registered here on Sunday against 120 unidentified persons for allegedly attacking the cops during patrolling.
It was learnt that a Station House Officer of Jangalkhel Police Station Wajid and other cops were busy in checking during a routine patrol in the Kotal Hills.
The SHO allegedly asked the people to produce computerized identity cards (CNICs) as the police were looking for drugs and anti-social elements.
The people instead of showing CNICs to prove their identity, they allegedly offered resistance, called companions for help and allegedly attacked the police on duty. They were accused of raising slogans against the police and insulting the SHO and other cops sitting in the police van.
A case was registered against the elements and seven sections of the law were invoked against them.
The people were accused of insulting the cops, filming the video and posting it on social media.
The police launched an action to arrest the people after the registration of the case and made arrests.
Meanwhile, the people of Darra Adamkhel protested the arrests and alleged that up to 100 people from Postikhel and other tribes had been arrested.
