Man dead, three hurt after water tanker crashes into house

A man died and three others, including two children, were injured after a water tanker crashed into their house in Baldia Town’s Gulshan-e-Ghazi on Sunday, according to the Ittehad Town police.

The incident caused the walls and the floors of the house to collapse. With the help of the locals, police and rescue workers recovered the deceased and the injured from under the tanker and the debris.

The victims were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased was identified as Amir Taufeeq, 39, and the injured as his brother Nasir, 44, and his daughters Manahil, 2, and Raheela, 13.

The locals said that most of the streets in the area are elevated, adding that the tanker was supplying water to a house, so the driver had put a cement block behind one of the tyres to keep the vehicle from moving.

But the block broke and the tanker started sliding down the slope, then crashed into the victims’ house. Six people, including women and children, were in the house at the time of the incident.

Boy killed

A seven-year-old boy was killed during celebratory gunfire at a wedding in Karachi's Shah Latif Town area on Sunday.

According to police, the incident took place in Pir Sarhandi Goth within the remits of the Shah Latif police station. After getting information, police and rescue services reached the spot and shifted the casualty to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased was identified as Ahmed Raza.

Police said participants of the wedding ceremony conducted aerial firing in celebration, in which a bullet hit the seven-year-old boy. Police arrested two suspects, Adnan and Zaheer, while another suspect, identified as Bhawal, escaped . The FIR of the incident was registered and investigations are under way.
