Injured headmistress affiliated with MQM-P dies
A woman who had been injured after being hit on the head while resisting a mugging near the Gharibabad underpass on Friday succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.
The deceased was a central member of the women’s committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan. She was also the headmistress of the Government Girls Primary School, Nazimabad.
Rakhshanda Bibi had suffered injuries to the head as she put up a fight during an attempt to mug her near the Gharibabad underpass on Friday. She died during treatment on Saturday.
Police said she was riding pillion on a motorbike with her husband when she was targeted by the muggers near the Gharibabad underpass, where they attempted to snatch her purse. During the attempt, the woman fell from the moving motorbike and suffered head injuries, to which she succumbed at a private hospital.
Her funeral prayer was offered at Nazimabad No. 1, and it was attended by a large number of family members, other relatives, and MQM-P leaders and workers. She was later buried at a graveyard in Baldia Town.
Her husband told the media that two motorcyclists had attempted to snatch his wife’s purse, and during the struggle she fell off the motorbike she was on, suffering serious head injuries.
After the woman suffered the head injury, she was taken to a hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The husband stressed the need for law enforcement agencies to take responsibility and prevent such incidents from happening.
