PESHAWAR: The office-bearers of the Young Teachers Association on Wednesday said the Finance Department was forcing the teachers to launch a protest campaign.
Speaking at the Peshawar Press Club, the association’s president Attaur Rehman and other office-bearers said that they would continue their efforts for restoration of pensions. They vowed to start a protest campaign against the Finance Department ‘illegal’ notification. They warned of staging a protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on December 27.
They said that the civil servant act which was amended in 2022 stated that the amended law would not be imposed on those appointed before the amendment. They said that the teachers staged protests outside Banigala twice and forced the government to remove the clause from the act which was approved by the assembly on December 12, 2022.
They said that those teachers who were regularized before June 2022 would get pension and gratuity. However, they said that the Accountant General office issued a notification which treated all teachers appointed from 2018 falling under the new pension law. They warned of a protest demonstration outside the KP Assembly on December 27.
