LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr Jamal Nasir has said that baseless apprehension about harmful effects of polio drops were the biggest impediment in total elimination of this disease from Pakistan.
The minister observed this while addressing the inaugural session of a two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Social and Behaviour Change for District Health Officers of Punjab, here Tuesday. The workshop was arranged in collaboration with UNICEF.
Dr Jamal said that the health education officers could play a pivotal role in bringing about behavioural change among the masses.
He urged the participants to work for removing misconceptions about polio shots as well as about vaccine being given to young children against various other diseases.
