Two more colliers die in Darra Adamkhel quarries
ALPURI: Two more coalminers from Shangla district died in separate incidents while working in coalmines in Darra Adamkhel on Thursday.
Muhammad Feroz, a resident of Pagorai in Alpuri, was working in Zafar Alam Lease of Ayub Coal Company when he died due to unknown reasons.Similarly, another collier named Bakhzada, a resident of Dherai in Alpuri, died of cardiac arrest while working in the mine of Bazikhel Coal Company.
The mountainous Shangla is a remote and under-developed district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where employment opportunities are scarce.Many men from Shangla work at coalmines in various parts of the country to eke out a living.
A coalminer in Alpuri said that the mines lacked facilities and the miners worked under unfavourable conditions inside the quarries.He said the mines were thousands of feet deep where the chances of survival were very low in case of any eventuality.
