Bilawal asks govt not to use force against Okara peasants
Karachi
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Saturday made an appeal for resolving the issue of Okara Farms peasants amicably and avoiding the use of force.
In a statement, he said he was seriously concerned over the matter since the PPP and its leaders had always fought against injustices and atrocities committed against the labour and peasant class, promising to keep standing with the tillers of land in any movement for the acquisition of their due rights.
He said agriculture was the only source of livelihood for these peasants and if kicked out by landlords they would lose all their sources of sustenance. He stated that his party will oppose any forcible action to make the peasants landless and asked the government to resolve the matter amicably.
