NAWABSHAH: The Shahpur Jahanian police removed illegal tax posts and arrested five persons on the charge of recovering illegal tax from sugarcane carrying tractor trolleys to Al-Noor Sugar Mill. Police said these elements had established illegal tax recovery posts around the sugar mill.
DSP Yar Muhammad Rind told media that the SSP Abdul Salam Sheikh received scores of complaints that some influential people of the area had established illegal tax recovery post on roads leading to Al-Noor Sugar Mill and sparing no trolley carrying sugarcane to the mill without payment of Bhatta not less than Rs4,000. He said the police arrested five accused on the spot while 50 culprits managed to flee and police were conducting raids to arrest them. The police later established seven police posts and registered FIR against the accused under Terrorist Act.
