Pop Smoke breaks Eminem's record for most weeks at top spot on rap albums chart

Late rapper Pop Smoke's debut studio album Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon has broken the record for longest number of weeks in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s top rap albums chart.

The star’s posthumously released album amassed its 20th week in the coveted list, in turn beating Eminem who had the record since 2011 after his seventh studio album Recovery spent 19 weeks in the top spot.

At third place come Drake whose album Take Care spent 16 weeks at No. 1.

Smoke, whose real name is Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed, on February 20, 2020, in a rented multi-million-dollar home in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills.

He was found inside the house, suffering from gunshot wounds, and transported to nearby Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where he died of his injuries some hours later.

Five months after he was shot dead the rapper's album was released.

The 20-year-old singer's album includes a number of collaborations featuring 50 Cent, Future, Migos Rapper Quavo, Swae Lee, Da Babby, Tyga and several others.
