One of the biggest names in Pakistan’s fashion industry, Maheen Khan, has become the latest celebrity to step forward in disappointment towards the recently released Lux Style Awards 2019 nominations.

The 73-year-old Pakistani fashionista came out against the award show on Twitter expressing her displeasure at the names that made it to the nominations list of LSA this year, while adding that she fails to comprehend the standards by which a nomination is given to an individual.

“About the controversy surrounding Lux Style Awards. I have never understood and never will, what the bench marks are for nominations . My personal concern is about the fashion category, a subject i know well, be it bridal, couture, pret ,models,or photography, [sic]” she stated.

“I cannotspeak across the board but certainlyin most cases the criteria 4 Fashion seems tobe those houses who have multiple stores, for models and photographers those who r already well known and popular.i would like to see the committee look behind the familiar curtain ..atthe talent thatis alreadythere, but unrewarded. [sic],” she added further.

She goes on to say: “Credance shouldbe given4talent whether theyarecommercially successful ornot. Let itbe known i hvalways supported LSA always willas itis a valuable platform. Please make LSAworthy of a standard thatwe canall look upto . [sic].”

Furthermore, she addressed LSA in a tweet asking them to uplift their standards by which the awards are handed out on the basis of merit while asking them who the jurors are who created this fiasco: “Please make LSA worthy of a standard that we can all look up to . I would also appreciate some transparency in the process . A list of the Jurors and judges and their credentials maybe ? [sic]”
