Deepika's first look as acid attack victim in 'Chhapaak' revealed
Deepika Padukone has shared her first look from Chhapaak based on the life of real life acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal.

MUMBAI: Famed Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, on Monday, revealed her first look from upcoming movie 'Chhapaak' which has left fans in awe over her perfect emulation of real life acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
Chhapaak - a real life story based on an acid attack victim - has Deepika Padukone in the lead role which also marks the actress' first venture as producer.
Sharing her awe-inspiring look on Instagram, DP wrote:
“A character that will stay with me forver..#Malti. Shoot begins today!# Chhapaak. Releasing-10th Janauary. 2020."
Apart from Deepika, the film also stars Vikrant Massey in pivotal role.
Meanwhile, Laxmi Agarwal, who survived a ghastly acid attack, has also expressed her approval of Deepika being cast in the role.
She wrote on Instagram:
“I am so happy that Deepika is playing the role. I have no right to judge her. How can I judge someone for something which I can’t do. She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best.”
Laxmi was attacked in 2005 at the age of 15.
A 32-year-old man and his alias attacked her by throwing acid on her. Later after the incident, Laxmi became a campaigner with stop acid attacks campaign.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhappak will release on 10th January, 2020.
