Traffic, security plan revealed as PSL 4 comes to Karachi

Additional Inspector General (IG) of Police Karachi Dr Amir Sheikh revealed in a press conference that the personnel will be deployed at the National Stadium in Karachi from March 9 while a security plan has also been laid out for the tournament’s Pakistan leg.

With the Pakistan Super League's (PSL) fourth season getting shifted to it Karachi leg from this week, arrangements of around 13,000 law enforcement personnel have been made, revealed reports.

Additional Inspector General (IG) of Police Karachi Dr Amir Sheikh revealed in a press conference that the personnel will be deployed at the National Stadium in Karachi from March 9 while a security plan has also been laid out for the tournament’s Pakistan leg.

During the matches 50 SSPs, 700 lady police officials and 250 commandos will be deployed whereas four security checkpoints will be established dividing the security into five layers with the installation of additional CCTV cameras also being done.

Furthermore, it was revealed that a rehearsal has also been done and the control room ready to start functioning.

In regards to the routes, the AIG stated that traffic will be diverted away from the venue of the match three hours ahead while roads leading from Hassan Square, Karsaz and Dalmia will remain blocked during the match with the exception of the route to the hospitals on Stadium Road which will remain open.

On the other hand, five parking spots have been set aside for the visitors who will be taken from the lot to the stadium via 500 shuttles that will be operational.

For the match-goers, the AIG stated: “Spectators will have to arrive at the stadium two hours ahead of the game, after which the gates of the stadium will be closed. No one is allowed to carry eatables from outside the venue.”
