After facing immense backlash for her neutral statement issued amidst the tensions between India and Pakistan, the actor has stepped forward with a clarification to all the trolls labelling her of being ‘anti-Indian.’

The Veere Di wedding actor turned to Twitter to clear the air saying she has and will always stand by her country but it’s the ‘state sponsored terrorism’ that she stands against, while also reminding people of having the right to possess an opinion.

"I stand strongly against any form of terrorism, especially if it's state sponsored. We are a Democratic country and each one has the right to his/her view without encroaching on others peoples beliefs. All religions in the World have a few fanatics and fundamentalists and our choices differentiate us from our misguided brothers and sisters. I'm completely neutral and I support my India and all the moral values she's always stood for,” she stated.

The actor had earlier shared a Facebook post on her Instagram profile that ignited massive out pour from the Indian public. Responding to the backlash, Sonam had stated: “Proud to be criticized… and peace to all the Crazy people out there.”
