Watson feels special playing against Afridi

It is still very special to be able to play against Shahid Afridi, for example. He's always someone I've always loved playing against so, to be able to continue to play against someone like him, in these tournaments, is very special," the UAE-based Khaleej Times quoted Shane Watson as saying.

SHARJAH: Australian batsman Shane Watson, who is playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 2019, said that he still feels special playing against star all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

“It is a great format and a great challenge to play in all these tournaments that I'm playing. It is still very special to be able to play against Shahid Afridi, for example. He's always someone I've always loved playing against so, to be able to continue to play against someone like him, in these tournaments, is very special," the UAE-based Khaleej Times quoted Watson as saying.

Thanks to excellent batting performance of Shane Watson, the Gladiators are currently on top of the PSL points table.

In their last match on Wednesday against the Multan Sultans, the chase masters, who won all their matches chasing, were off to another solid start of 39 before Watson found an able ally in Rilee Rossouw as they punished bowlers with authority, adding 56 for the second wicket.

Watson, who scored 81 not out in his team’s win over Islamabad United, reached his fifth fifty in all HBL PSL, with a straight boundary off Shahid Afridi as Quetta reached 89-1 after ten overs.

Watson, who now has 845 runs in 28 HBL PSL matches, second to Peshawar opener Kamran Akmal who has 978 in 36 matches, finally fell to Afridi, with 76 needed for victory.
