KARACHI: Mahira Khan just had her first time appearing at the Cannes film festival where she met with various celebrities including the Bollywood stars - Sonam Kapoor and Aishwara Rai Bachchan.

Her walk at Red Carpet and talk shows at TV channels, looks at French Riviera, all were very much appreciated by people in various countries, particularly by her fans and media in Pakistan and India.

She was asked several questions regarding films, TV, music, fashion and many other aspects of life and society in Pakistan.

However in her response to the bilateral concern, Mahira dedicated that ‘art’ relieves differences and how there isn’t much difference felt when they interact at such festivals.

“Art lessens differences – whether they are created through history or politics. By way of art, we start realising that we – Indians and Pakistanis – are much more similar than we are different,” she told India Today.

“Since there are barely any differences between our people, I feel that we should still collaborate when it comes to films and music,” she said.

She mentioned of how she received warm friendly interactions from Sonam Kapoor and Aishwaria Bachchan and added that, “Globally, when we interact with each other at such international festivals, we learn that there are not a lot of differences.”

Other than that, however, she indicated that “India-Pakistan is STILL India-Pakistan,” adding to which she mentioned, “I hope that one day, you don’t ask this question. I hope one day, I’m not asked ‘What would happen about India-Pakistan’?”

The 33-year-old starlet also spoke of how the event strengthened her even more, merely because of the encouragement she received during her time with those actresses there.
