Anushka Sharma speaks in support of severe punishments for child rapists
“Like everyone in the country, I’m deeply hurt by the incident (Kathua). Even now when I think about it, I feel disgusted and extremely emotional. Like I said in my statement earlier, most severe punishment has to be veted out to the people involved.”
MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Anushka Shamra has expressed her complete support in the matter of imposing severe punishments to child rapists, alongside endorsing the ordinance passed by the Indian government that inflicts extreme punishments onto rapists.
As per reports by Indian media, the actor while addressing a brand endorsement event, had said: “Like everyone in the country, I’m deeply hurt by the incident (Kathua). Even now when I think about it, I feel disgusted and extremely emotional. Like I said in my statement earlier, most severe punishment has to be veted out to the people involved.”
In reference to the ordinance propagated by President Ram Nath Kovind, that enables death penalty to rapists, the actor had further added: “I will be completely, 1000 percent in support of the most severe punishment that there is (to be given to the one) who spoils something as innocent as a child.
