Sara Shakeel, the digital collage contemporary artist from Pakistan who made waves with her photo series showcasing stretchmarks in a positive light, joined forces with global fitness giant Reebok to showcase strong women.
With CrossFit coach and Reebok athlete Jamie Greene as her subject, Shakeel develops a photo series using glitter and diamantes that would show that “muscles are beautiful, to accept and embrace it.” Sara continued, “[We want women] to feel strong from the inside and from the outside.”
Speaking on the theme of the shoot, Greene added: “I believe that women should be confident in whatever skin they have. Stretchmarks, muscles, anything along those lines. Be proud of it – rock it!”
“Body positivity is something that is very close to me,” Shakeel continued. “As an artist, it is a sole responsibility for me to embrace it, to accept [yourself] for who you are.”
“Working with Jamie Greene was super empowering, because to see a woman of such strength and willpower, mentally and physically, was such an inspiration for me as an artist. The whole process was about embracing the concept of women working out, and it was amazing. It was super humbling, and amazing.”
