India’s most followed Instagram accounts belong to Padukone and Kohli
Bollywood heart throb Deepika Padukone and Cricket champion Virat Kohli have received awards for being the Most Followed and Most Engaged accounts, respectively.
The Instagram Awards were announced for the first time in India and the two celebrities were nominated and won awards in the two categories.
Kohli is followed by 19.8 million fans and his account ranked on top in the highest number of aggregate engagements when likes and comments on his posts from 2017 were calculated.
The list also acknowledged Instagram’s most engaging members and emerging accounts reaching 20 million milestones.
The Most Followed Account category was topped by Deepika at 22.4 million, followed by Priyanka Chopra at 22 million and Indian sweetheart Alia Bhatt at 20.8 million.
The Padmaavat actor expressed gratitude and shared how it was important for her to stay connected with her fans and how she ‘values their love, support and connection’.
India’s emerging account award went to Ishaan Khatter, who is starring in ‘Dhadak’ and has grown a significant fan-base on Instagram.
Alia Bhatt and Shradha Kapoor received ‘Milestone Plaque’ in view of their community of 20 million followers.
