Ever since the actress Jiah Khan ended up in headlines for a reported suicide, her mother Rabbiya Khan has been restless in trying to prove the suicide of her daughter was actually a murder.
The family of the deceased Bollywood actress has pointed fingers of accusations of abetment of the suicide toward the actress’ past lover Sooraj Pancholi.
As per reports by the Indian media, Pancholi’s trial will begin on February 14th which has brought a fraction of satisfaction to Jiah’s mother.
The famed Bollywood actress was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom at her family’s Mumbai home. A six page long suicide note was also discovered by Jiah’s sister soon after her death.
Jiah’s boyfriend, Ponchali was taken into custody on June 10th 2013 but was granted bail soon after.
In August of 2016, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had ruled out murder in the case and affirmed the death as suicide, which led Rabbiya Khan into denouncing the CBI for forgery of information.
Rabbiya forwarded the case to Bombay High Court for an independent investigation and the case was forwarded to a session’s court last year in January, formally pressing charges against Ponchali.
In a session’s court last week, the suspect pleaded not guilty. The trial of Ponchali will be held on February 14th.
