GANZHOU CITY, East China: Over 600 students and teachers gathered together to write Spring Festival Couplets in Winqing Road Elementary School.
Spring Festival Couplets are the most common and important Chinese New Year custom. The tradition is followed in both modern and rural towns and cities. It makes up an important part of Chinese traditions and culture.
The couplets contain poetry, phrases, quotations, messages or welcoming wishes to embrace New Year in healthy hopes and spirits. The poetry lines are vertically pasted on both sides of a door, signifying that the goodness will feel welcome when entering the doors.
