‘Tumhari Sulu’ proved wrong that married female actors can't score a hit: Vidya
“There was a point I started believing that may be a married actress can’t score a hit. But the success 'Tumhari Sulu' is getting has proved it wrong. The films, I did before this, were probably not successful in building the connection with the audience.”
MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Vidya Balan said consecutive box office disappointments since her wedding brought her into thinking that married female actors cannot deliver a hit but her success with 'Tumhari Sulu' has proved her assumptions wrong.
“There was a point I started believing that may be a married actress can’t score a hit. But the success 'Tumhari Sulu' is getting has proved it wrong. The films, I did before this, were probably not successful in building the connection with the audience.”
The 38-year-old actor maintained that she overcame her past failures only from the motivation that one should keep trying until they succeed.
“Successes and failures are a part of life. Every day is not a Sunday. The only thing as an artist I can do is keep moving forward, keep working hard and keep growing. The joy is in learning. Failures help me rise.”
The star said that awards and appreciations have always been another motivation for her to go on as she enjoys winning, as she mentions to Indian media.
“Awards matter to me. And I have always been joking about it that ‘if you win, awards do matter to you’. I love when people appreciate my hard work and dedication. With 'Tumhari Sulu', the appreciation I am getting matters more. Recognition and acknowledge is always special for me.”
Her recent hit 'Tumhari Sulu' brought her the Screen Award as best actor (female) for her performance as Sulochana in the film.
