DUBAI: Rumman Raees is certainly one of the most talked-about local talents that have come to the fore from the second edition of the Pakistan Super League. Not only has he proved himself to be a valuable all-rounder but the United player has grabbed eyeballs for his unique celebration style.
Celebrations in cricket have always been regarded with much fervour. Take for instance, Shahid Khan Afridi's signature pose after dismissing a batsman or Shoaib Akhtar's 'airplane' celebration which were much adorned by fans across the globe. Islamabad United's Rumman Raees has managed to garner attention owing to his own unique celebration, one which he termed in an interview as the 'Cool and Calm' celebration pose.
"At first I used to celebrate after taking a wicket, like Shoaib Akhtar with both of my arms spread out," said Raees. "Now I just stand around calmly," he added.
Raees stated that since bowlers get hammered a lot in T20 cricket and you never know what the next over might bring with it, it's better to silently stand around after dismissing the batsman. During Islamabad United's last match against Karachi Kings, Raees exchanged heated words with Imad Wasim, after he had dismissed him and celebrated with the Cool and Calm pose.
Following that, Mohammad Amir dismissed Raees to claim the match for Karachi Kings. The left-arm quickie gave Raees a taste of his own medicine when he teased Rumman with the same celebration. Watch below.
