BANGKOK: India women’s cricket team on Sunday won the Asia Cup T20 for the sixth time by beating Pakistan in the final of the tournament by 17 runs.
India had beaten Pakistan in the group stages too. This win stretches India’s unbeaten run in the Asia Cup to 32 matches.
India scored 121/5 with the help of Mithali Raj’s unbeaten 73 runs. None of the other batsmen clicked except Jhulan Goswami who scored 17.
Chasing 122, Pakistan openers Ayesha Zafar (15) and Javeria Khan (22) made a good start but the tail didn’t produce the required runs to get them over the finishing line. Captain Bismah also made good contribution but that was not enough.
